Biblical Literacy
Our Bib Lit class for the semester has been on the life of King David. Brian Allred, local pastor and erstwhile seminary professor, is one of the most engaging teachers I’ve ever known.
This year we’ve changed the format a bit to ensure that the classes are are between 30-50 minutes rather than 80-90 minutes as in the past. May I be so bold as to suggest that you consider using this video series for private group study? Watch a few minutes of the video below. If you like it, you can find the whole series on our YouTube channel.
We’d love to know what you think!
Truth, Beauty, & Goodness in Søren Kierkegaard

“This was so much fun!” This sentiment was voiced by more than one attendee last Thursday night.
When is the last time you heard somebody say that about a 2-hour lecture and discussion on a Danish, existential, Christian philosopher? I suppose that’s just one more instance of the unique nature of this place.
A mixture of students, professors, and even an editor of top-tier theological journal gathered to listen to BSU Honors Humanities professor, Dr. Jason Powell, speak on Truth, Beauty, and Goodness in Søren Kierkegaard.
The jokes flew. Existential humor. A bit dark, but funny.
(The video is coming soon. We’ll let you know when it’s up.)
You can download a book of Kierkegaard’s spiritual insights by clicking the book cover below:
Upcoming Events:
Christianity in the Classroom?

What does your faith have to do with the stuff you’re learning? What might a full-orbed Christian theology contribute to research, writing, and teaching any given subject or discipline? Why do some Christians approach higher education with skepticism? Why are some academics suspicious of anything that smells of religion? How might Christian students & ministry leaders work with university professors for the flourishing of all involved?
Several Ball State professors and ministry leaders will be participating in this event.
Lunch is provided for all registered attendees.

The Instrument God Gave Us: Meditations on Vocal Music
Dr. Andrew Crow, Professor of Music Performance and Director of Choral Activities at Ball State University, will take us on an aural tour that will visit a variety of vocal styles and compositions with discussion stops along the way. Our final destination will be a greater appreciation of God’s original musical instrument.
Part I: Thursday November 21, 7-8:30pm
Part II: Friday November 22, 7-8:30pm
Alcuin Study Center (1401 W Beechwood Ave, Muncie 47304)

This Saturday, November 2, I will be participating in an apologetics conference hosted by New Life Presbyterian Church (PCA). The two main speakers are writer and podcaster Aaron Renn and former Indiana Senator John Crane. I will be giving a short talk entitled the Posture of Our Witness.
Please keep your eyes peeled for our end-of-the-year appeal. We depend on the generosity of people who understand the importance of this kind of faith-integrating work. If you’ve read this far, you are probably one of them! Thank you for your support in whatever form it has taken over the years!

In Christ, in whom all things hold together,

Dan Daugherty, Executive Director
