How do I get involved?

Or perhaps the better question is How can Alcuin Study Center serve me and my ministry? That is, after all, our goal. Alcuin Study Center is an educational non-profit. Our primary space in the university ecosystem is the intersection of Christianity and scholarship. We also have a passion to see Christians united and working together on campus.

Encourage a few of your students to be ASC ambassadors

Many of the students involved at Alcuin Study Center are members of various ministries and clubs on campus. Some of those students are ASC ambassadors. They look for ways that ASC might serve and strengthen the ministries in which they are already involved. These ambassadors are encouraged to be faithful to the commitments they have with their primary ministry while also taking advantage of the resources of the broader Christian community. Some of those resources are listed below. If you have questions about ASC ambassadors, please let us know.

The ASC Mobile Library

ASC has a circulating library of over 1000 volumes, curated for Christian scholarship and human flourishing.

Our Mobile Library is a small subset of our collection, chosen specifically for the theme of whatever talk or program you are giving. We will park outside your event and give students a chance to peruse and check out books for further study or edification. If you have a specific book that you’d like available to them, let us know, and if it fits into our budget and our mission, we’ll add it to the available selections.

Christian Unity & Opportunities for Discernment

For too long many campus ministries have operated with a bit of a territorial chip on their shoulders. We encourage ministries to leave a bit of margin in their programming to allow for opportunities to connect with other ministries, providing their students with a more robust understanding of the Kingdom of God. For this reason, we team up with the Council of Religious Advisors and the ministries on campus to co-host events such as the annual Faith@Work Speaker and on-campus conferences (e.g. Christianity in the Classroom 2024). When our students graduate, they will not have the neatly programmed routine of our ministries; they will need to navigate uncertain waters with wisdom and discernment. We need to give them opportunities to learn those skills before they graduate. Looking at the world—and our faith—through different sets of lenses is one step in that direction.

Let us know how we can serve you!

We love to serve campus ministers!

Do you need a place to study or prepare for your next talk or bible study? We have free coffee, oreos, and a great space to sit down and work for a while.

Are you studying some particular passage of Scripture? We have commentaries. Are you working out some theological issue (the Canon of Scripture, the Incarnation, Social Justice, The function of the Church, Church History, Miracles, etc.)? We have a ton of resources.

Do you need a guest speaker on any topic? Our board and staff have very wide-reaching connections. We’d love to help you fill the podium with the right fit.

Dan Daugherty, our Executive Director, has been a guest speaker for a number of campus ministries and churches in Muncie and the surrounding area.
